Plitvice Lakes in Croatia

Plitvice Lakes is the oldest national nature reserve in southeastern Europe and is the largest national park in Croatia, located in the mountainous karst region in central Croatia, 140 kilometers from the capital Zagreb, specifically in the south on the border to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The park or Plitvice Lakes National Park was established in 1949, while in 1979 it was included in the natural World Heritage Sites of UNESCO.

Among the beautiful places in the park are the upper lakes, which consist of 12 lakes of different sizes and a group of lower lakes, separated by limestone cliffs, in addition to the Plitvica River, which is 4 kilometers long and is one of the largest water sources in the national park and the third largest in the Karst region.

You will certainly be dazzled by the scenes of the Korana River located under the mouth of the great waterfall, where the water flows strongly, and the Subliara Cave, which gives you a distinctive view of the water flowing between rivers, lakes and waterfalls, not to mention the Karlovic Cave and the Churkova Ovala Forest located in the northwestern part of the national park.
